IL Sets Weekly Record For Nursing Home Deaths; 4,699 New Cases

ILLINOIS — Illinois on Monday reported 4,699 new cases of the coronavirus and 98 more deaths from COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus, bringing the statewide totals to 905,069 infections and 15,299 deaths. That incudes 605 nursing home residents who have died in the past week — the most weekly nurisng home deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The vaccine began rolling out statewide last week, going first to front-line health care workers across the state. But vaccinations aren’t scheduled to begin in nursing homes until Dec. 28, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

IL Reports 6,190 New Cases, 85 Deaths, As Vaccine Starts To Ship

ILLINOIS — State health officials on Monday reported 6,190 new cases of the coronavirus and 85 more deaths from COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus. New daily cases have now been below 10,000 for four days in a row, as new mitigations seem to be working across the state. Altogether, 726,304 Illinoisans have now been infected with the virus and 12,278 have died, not including another 633 probable deaths.

Positivity Rate, New Cases Fall Monday, Hospitalizations Rise

ILLINOIS — State health officials on Monday reported 8,322 new coronavirus cases and 47 more deaths from COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus. After nearly 22,000 new cases reported over the weekend, Monday marks the first time in nearly a week that the state has reported less than 10,000 new daily cases. 11,632 New Cases, 37 Deaths

ILLINOIS — State health officials on Monday reported 11,632 new cases of the coronavirus and 37 more deaths from COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus. That’s a few thousand shy of the 15,415 new case record set last week, but still higher than the previous peak in May. Altogether, more than half a million Illinoisans have now caught the virus, more than 10,000 have died, and hospitalizations have rocketed to all-time highs.
